Do you like to be stero-typed?
I don't!!! Any time you are Transgender you are immediately thought of as a gay person dressing in women's clothes to attract other men. Bull S***! Even the dating sites. If they carry a place for the T Community it is in their Adult Only Sexual Area. What is that all about? What about the search engines? You want to see Transgender home pages and it immediately tells you there may be sexual content not suitable for all viewers. Huh? I personally am getting tired of being thought of as gay when someone finds out I am a Transgender. Your sexual preferance is determined at birth. I have heard that some gay men find it difficult to "come out". When a transgender man "comes out" to himself he realizes one of two things. Either he has been living a total lie all his life or a half lie. If it is a total lie that means that they have dated women all their life and finally realized they wanted men but they want to be a woman. Does that make them gay? I THINK NOT!!! They were simply born in the wrong body. Now for the half lie. If they have always dated women and realize they like dating women and not men but want to be a woman. What does that make them? A Lesbian I suppose.
I am bi-gender and not bi-sexual. See even the spelling is differant. A bi-gender person is one that is born with both genders in the same body. Talk about being confused all the time..... Sometimes feeling like a man and other times feeling like a woman. Do you change to a full man? Do you change to a full woman? Or do you live with the way you are and hope for happiness? Each one of us that are bi-gender have to make that descision EVERY DAY. If you find a happy medium you are a very lucky person. In fact contact me and let me know how you did it.
A Transgender man is one that wears women clothing because they feel it is right for them. Some go through Gender Reassignment Surgery to change to a woman and others don't. A Transgender woman is one that wears mens clothes because it feels right to them. There again, some change, others don't. Notice how there was NOTHING said about their sexual preferances?
Please, people, let us be humans just like you. Get sex off your mind and you might find out we are very nice people. Don't outcast us because you heard someone else say something sexual about us. What we have is in our minds. Much like a woman that prefers to wear jeans rather than dresses but is all woman. It is what feels right for her. Of course she is welcome to walk in public that way. Men in a skirt or dress??!! Turn your eyes or call the cops. This is not normal!!! Again I say Bull S***! We are a mix of people in this world. The color of our skin, hair and eyes make us such. So does our gender. Let us be who we really are and not hidding because someone MIGHT be offended by seeing us.
Guess I will get off my box now. Please add any comments you want.
Hugs, Robin (everyone needs at least one hug each day)

THEATRE NEW WEST
AN EVEN MORE SPECIAL MESSAGE* TO
HOUSTON’S TRANSGENDER COMMUNITY, AMENDED FOR CLARITY AND
PURPOSE *first one sent march 11, 2008
MARCH 18, 2008
THEATRE NEW
WEST 436 Hawthorne #2 Houston, TX
77006 713-522-2204
AUDITIONS
The Vagina Monologues
10th Year Anniversary
The Houston Trangender Community is about to make
history with a rare, all-transgender production of the famous The Vagina
Monologues. Theatre New West Artistic Director Joe Watts is currently
searching for local TG community members to perform in the critically acclaimed
play. Whether you are pre-op or post-op, MTF or FTM, CD, genderqueer, boi, girl
etc. you are invited to be a part of this landmark
celebration.
The Vagina Monologues by Eve Ensler, is a poignant and
hilarious celebratory tour of vaginal sexuality. Witty and irreverent,
compassionate and wise, Eve Ensler’s Obie Award-winning masterpiece gives voice
to the deepest desires and fears, guaranteeing that no one who sees it will
ever think of sex in quite the same way again.
This Houston Transgender production of The Vagina
Monologues is seeking 4 or more local transgenders to perform prewritten
monologues in an effort to give voice to the local transgender community’s
authenticity, dignity and determination. CASTING: 4 or more roles, 3 performers, and one
moderator/performer (may use several moderators during the run of the
production), all ages and all ethnicities. Lots of experience is not
important, what is important is that you’re a good performer and can project the
emotions of the characters in the play.
Note from Director: When I watched a
do*****entary of a Los Angeles production that was presented with transgenders, I
became passionate about producing a production in Houston. My intent is in no
way to sensationalize the transgender community, but to give them a voice, one
of better understanding, acceptance, clarity and beauty. Joe
Watts
Auditions (which will be reading from the
script), are March 22-23, Saturday and Sunday, from 2-5PM both days, at Theatre
New West’s “The Loft” space behind 436 Hawthorne (corner of Hawthorne and
Garrott in Montrose), the performers will be compensated.
To
schedule an audition contact Artistic Director Joe Watts @
713-522-2204
The production will be performed in May at
the Montrose Counseling Center, 401 Branard Street, Houston, Texas
77006
